Job Description
Who we are
ADC is a European data and AI consultancy with offices in the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. We help organisations turn data and AI into real impact, leading a mission to accelerate the responsible use of Data and AI. We partner with clients to achieve their goals through data-driven solutions across multiple industries: financial services, life sciences, healthcare, the public sector, retail, and transportation.
Our collective brings together the full data value chain under one roof:
- Data Strategy: Turning buzzwords into clear, business‑aligned roadmaps.
- Data Engineering: Building secure, scalable, future‑proof data foundations.
- Analytics & Data Science: Creating AI‑powered tools and models that actually get used.
- Design & Visualisation: With our in‑house studio CLEVER°FRANKE, turning complex data into experiences people enjoy using.
We're leveraging our expertise in
data engineering, cloud architecture, and modern data platforms to help
Life Science organisations build the data foundations they need to accelerate research, innovation, and patient impact.
Our
Life Sciences team is growing, and we are looking for a
Clinical Data Engineer who is curious, technically driven, and eager to grow with us. As a
Clinical Data Engineer, you will design, build, and own data pipelines for clinical and clinical operational data, from raw source ingestion through complex joins, dataset augmentation, and aggregations to production-grade, analytics-ready outputs.
You'll be part of a true collective, working alongside bioinformaticians, data scientists, AI engineers, and client stakeholders and you will be responsible for the quality, traceability, and auditability of what you build.
Where you’ll make an impact
Clinical Data Pipeline Engineering
- Design, build, and maintain end-to-end pipelines for clinical and clinical operational data: ingestion from EDC, CTMS, and lab systems; complex multi-source joins and dataset augmentation; aggregations for reporting and analytics; and delivery to downstream consumers.
- Apply engineering best practices throughout: data lineage tracking, audit logging, data quality checks, automated testing, and reproducible pipeline design.
- Build on cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) following modern engineering and security standards.
Technical Delivery & Tooling
- Implement solutions using Databricks or comparable platforms (Delta Lake, Spark, dbt), owning delivery from design through to production deployment.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and documentation as first-class concerns — not afterthoughts.
Collaboration & Collective Development
- Work closely with data scientists, analytics engineers, and client stakeholders to translate domain requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Share knowledge internally and contribute to ADC's thought leadership in life sciences data and AI.
What You Bring
At ADC, we’re not just consultants: we’re leading experts in Data & AI using our expertise in the
Life Sciences industry. What unites us is a shared way of working: breaking down complex challenges to change how organisations operate.
For This Role, That Means
- 3+ years of experience in Life Sciences industry as a Data Engineer, ideally gained in consulting or project-based work
- A quantitative academic background in computer science, data engineering, bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience building production pipelines for clinical and/or clinical operational data (EDC, CTMS, eCRF, lab data): including complex joins, dataset augmentation, and aggregations. Required.
- Strong command of Python and SQL, with solid data modelling, testing, and monitoring skills in production environments.
- Experience with data lineage, audit logging, and pipeline observability in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments.
- Familiarity with Databricks or a comparable modern data platform (Delta Lake, Spark, dbt), Databricks experience is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud data infrastructure.
- The ability to communicate with anyone in the room, breaking down complex ideas for technical and non-technical audiences
- A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset: you’re eager to solve problems, innovate, and drive change
- A collaborative spirit: You believe the best solutions come from diverse perspectives and supporting each other to raise the bar.
- Ability to work at the intersection of science, engineering, and business
- Fluency in English.
What’s In It For You
At ADC, you’re part of the collective from day one. We want you to grow, experiment, and shape your own path while working on projects that matter. That means:
- Impact you can point to: You’ll see your work in action and our projects change how organisations make decisions.
- Real responsibility, real support: You’ll work alongside experienced experts from the start, learning by doing with mentorship and feedback built in.
- The freedom to try new things: Spot a better way to build something? A smarter process? We want people who challenge the status quo.
- Collective Week: Once a year, we go on a workation with the whole ADC team. We work on pro bono projects, explore new ideas, and make the kind of memories you’ll want to talk about.
- Ownership opportunities: We offer a competitive salary and bonus structure, plus the opportunity to invest in the company and become a co-owner once specific conditions are met. We mean it when we say collective.
- A vibrant culture: Friday breakfast, sports, social events, and much more: a culture you’ll notice from day one.
